Overview:
Regarded by the world at large, which does not believe in magic, as an eccentric and a charlatan, Dr. Strange acts as mankind’s point man, the sole defender of humanity from perils it does not know or believe exist. Heralded as the Sorcerer Supreme of the Earth Dimension, Dr. Strange protects our dimension from other-dimensional being such as Nightmare, Mephisto and the Dread Dormammu. One-time leader and charter member of the metahuman group called the Defenders and leader of the supernaturally-inspired Midnight Sons, Dr. Strange had lead groups in his battles to defend our dimension from those who would claim it for their own.Generally a reclusive man, Strange is known for his charitability and kindness, but has been a little less stable in the last few years due to his falling out with the beings who lent him their powers. This falling out caused Strange to re-evaluate his role as Sorcerer Supreme and saw him change the sources of his powers for a time from his normal magic derived from his near-divine sources to Earth Magic and then to Chaos Magic. StrangeÕs current sources of magick are unknown but believed to be as formidible as they were in the past.History:
Stephen Vincent Strange was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, being the first son of Eugene and Beverly Strange. Only a few months later, the Strange family moved to a farm in Nebraska. It was here that his brother Victor, and later his sister Donna were born. Even as a boy Stephen was searching for power and prestige. It was then that he decided to became a surgeon. After he left the family farm in Nebraska for medical school he never really saw his family anymore. Only came over on alternate christmases when he didn’t get a better offer for the holidays. After his graduation he became a brilliant, ambitious, and somewhat arrogant neurosurgeon. He became more distant, more cynical as the years went by. When his dad died, two years after his mom, it took him two days to return Victors (his brother) call saying he was in the hospital. He felt guilty but it would’ve passed, just like it always had before.

A few days later his brother stood at his front door. Stephen never went to his fatherÕs burial that was the day before and he made exuses against his brother only now. That night Stephen was with some girl and when Victor saw her he stepped out the door, real angry. It was snowing and Victor didn’t look where he was going. The car hit him with full force. Stephen had to pronounce his own brother dead. Wracked with grief he figured that this time he could buy his way out of the burden of guild by freezing his brotherÕs body. Hoping that one day medical science would bail him out. He didn’t thust himself enough not to touch the money that kept VictorÕs freezer going so he placed that money in an untouchable trust fund.

Not long afterwards his meteoric medical career was tragically cut short in an automobile accident. In this accident Strange sustained minor nerve damage, which prevented him from holding a scalpel steadily enough to perform delicate surgery. Although he was offered a prestigious consultant’s position, Strange’s pride prevented him from accepting. He invested his fortune on attempted cures and fraudulent doctors and saw it dwindle to nothing. He swiftly degenerated from recluse to drifter to drunken derelict. Then Strange heard talk of a learned man in Tibet known only as the Ancient One who could supposedly work miracles.

Determined to find this miracle man, he made his way across the ocean and then the frozen wastes of the Himalayan Mountains. Just when he reached the limits of his endurance, he stumbled upon the Ancient One’s palace. The aged sorcerer told him he would only consider helping Strange if he proved himself worthy. Refusing to fully believe in the Ancient One’s magic anyway, Strange remained as a guest while a bitter storm spent itself outside. He soon discovered that the Ancient One’s pupil Baron Mordo was plotting to kill his master. Trying to warn the master of his pupil’s treachery, Strange was discovered by Mordo and mystically restrained.

Witnessing Mordo’s power and learning of his murderous intent shocked the jaded Strange into a realization of the nature of evil and the necessity to combat it. Eventually Strange sought a way to get around Mordo’s spell by sincerely offering to become the pupil of the Ancient One himself. The sorcerer freed Strange of the restricting spell and admitted that he knew of Mordo’s true nature all along. But having peered into Strange’s soul, he saw the potential for great goodness and power.

Thus, Stephen Strange became the Ancient One’s disciple and learned the secrets of sorcery. He stayed for several years in Tibet with the Ancient One. Aside from the mystic arts also developing his body and learning the ancient martial arts of Kamar-Taj. When the day came for the pupil to leave and restart his own life the Ancient One pointed him to a special Victorian-style house on Bleecker Street in bohemian Greenwich Village in New York City.

There was, of course, a reason why the Ancient One’s picked this particular house. The site was a focal point on which magical rituals were done for centuries past. Indian shamans used the site, a mystical dimensional gateway resides in his basement, cultists used it in their rituals, faeries seeked and received refuge within the walls. Strange not only changed the obvious physical appearance of the house like the special and well-known window, but also placed a lot of spells on it.

For instance… the house cannot be entered by evil magicians, and will erect some sort of mystical force field whenever they try. It will also work as a mystical alarm. There is a spell that holds of even the rain. The inside is combined with reality shifting spells, therfore it never really looks the same. the spells work together. One time a burglar entered the house at a window on the first floor entered a door there and found himself outside on ground level.

Special Powers/Abilities:
Doctor Strange has a good knowledge of various Oriental martial arts and trains regularly with his assistant Wong. Stephen Strange has the physical ability of a man who engages in moderate physical exercise. Dr. Strange’s psychic abilities are more extensively trained than normal men and as such may perform feats such as mesmerism, hypnotism, telepathy and psychokinesis. He also possesses considerable medical and surgical knowledge.

Known superhuman powers:Strictly speaking, Doctor Strange and other human sorcerers do not have superhuman powers. Only the ability to manipulate mystical energy lies within an Earth-born sorcerer, not the energy itself. Theoretically, any Earth human can tap into an infinite amount of mystical energy. However, each person is limited by his own amount of training, discipline, knowledge, and enlightenment as to the mystic arts. As Sorcerer Supreme of Earth, Doctor Strange possesses a greater knowledge and mastery of the mystic arts than anyone else on Earth. He was born with a great talent for sorcery, and he has fulfilled that potential through long years of study and training.

Strange’s magic, like that of most magicians, is derived from three major sources: personal powers of the mind/soul/body, derived through developing one’s own psychic resources (mesmerism, astral projection, thought-casting, etc.), powers gained by tapping the universe’s ambient magical energy and employing it for specific effects (teleportation, illusion-casting, energy projection), and finally, powers gained through the tapping of extra-dimensional energy by invoking entities or objects of power existing in mystical dimensions tangential to his own.

The latter means of power is usually gained by the recitation of spells, either ritualized ones found in various mystical texts or by original spells invoking extra-dimensional assistance. Strange also employs a number of occult power objects which he welds by mental control.

To begin with his personal powers. Strange has mastered the art of astral projection, the mental ability to separate the astral self-the sheath of the soul, or life essence-from his physical self, and in this form traverse through space unbounded by physical laws but fully retaining human consciousness. The astral form is invisible, intangible, and incapable of being harmed except by the most rigorous of mystical means. The astral form only possesses those magical powers residing in the sorcerer’s mind: thought casting, psychokinesis, etc. Strange is of such mastery that he can remain in astral form for up to 24 hours before there is corporeal deterioration of his physical form. The physical form is quite vulnerable to attack when the astral form is absent. If harm were to befall his physical form while he was in his astral form, he would be stranded in the wraith-like state. While the astral form is absent, the physical form remains in an inert death-like trance.

Although Strange also has the ability to mesmerize people to do his bidding, both in person and at a distance, he seldom employs his mastery over others’ wills in so direct a way. Strange can cast his thoughts over short or vast distances in a manner virtually identical with telepathy. The entire Earth is within the reach of Strange’s mind, providing he knows where to contact the specific mind he is seeking. Strange can simultaneously communicate with up to a dozen minds at a time.

Strange is also able to tap this universe’s store of ambient magical energy and manipulate it for a variety of effects. He is able to form and hurl magical energy bolts with a high degree of potency and control. He is able to erect energy shields o screens with a high degree of imperviousness to both physical and magical damage. He is able to use local magical energy for the conjuration of small physical objects like money or rabbits or for unusual luminescent effects. Strange can also transform one object into another, though the transformation only lasts for as long as he wills it.

Strange is sometimes able to utilize local magical energy to teleport across the face of the Earth or into a mystical dimension (certain higher dimensions beyond height, width, depth, etc. where the physical laws can be based on magic rather than science). Oddly enough, teleportation within a dimension is more taxing than teleportation between dimensions. Such expenditure of energy leaves all sorcerers (including Strange) mystically debilitated for a varying length of time, making teleportation a dangerous and seldom used ability. Physical teleportation across time rather than space is the most power-draining feat of them all.

Doctor Strange has knowledge of a host sorcerous spells and incantations invoking the names and aspects of various extra-dimensional objects and beings of power. Strange is also able to call upon these extra-dimensional power sources for very specific effects without taxing his own personal abilities. Some of these extra-dimensional phenomena include the Flames of the Faltine, the Shades of the Seraphim, and the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth. In Strange’s possession is the Greater Book of the Vishanti, an ancient tome containing a wealth of obscure arcane knowledge.

Paraphernalia: A number of artifacts, but the most important are…

The Eye and Amulet of Agamotto

The Crystal Orb of Agamotto

The Book of The Vishanti

The Cloak of Levitation

PART I – THE DISTANT PAST

Pre-Big Bang

The universe was collapsing. Galen from the planet Taa was ordered to set out into space to discover a method to save his world. Not finding any means to prevent the collapse of the universe, Galen and his shipmates decided to die gloriously by plunging their ship into the heart of the “Cosmic Egg,” the focal point upon which the universe was collapsing. As the ship sped towards the Cosmic Egg, Galen’s shipmates began to be affected by the tremendous forces pulling at them and began to die. However Galen did not perish but was protected from the tremendous gravities by the sentience of the dying universe. This consciousness contacted Galen and told him that they both would die, but in the new universe they would be reborn. The “Cosmic Egg” then absorbed Galen into itself.

15,000,000,000 Years Ago

The Big Bang. The universe was created in a massive explosion. Mass and energy condensed to form the universe. [Scientific theory.]

Eternity, Death, Lord Chaos and Master Order, and others, abstract entities who are the ethereal embodiments of the new universe, were reborn.

The being that had been Galen was hurled from the center of the explosion in his recreated spaceship. Inside the ship, Galen was undergoing a metamorphosis that would take eons.

8,000,000,000 Years Ago

Eternity, the embodiment of everything in the universe, the Celestial Axis, a pattern of organic energy that threads itself throughout the universe, and Time itself gave birth to Eon, a sentient quasi-physical entity. Eon was created to become the cosmic custodian of the universe, to monitor beings of incredible power that might pose a threat to the universe’s existence. Eon also eventually became responsible for nurturing the evolution of sentient life forms in the universe.

Billions of Years Ago.

Life began to evolve in the universe on alien planets. Sentient and intelligent races eventually arose.

One of the first intelligent races in the universe to evolve eventually became known to the rest of the universe as the Watchers. Their evolution caused them to develop tremendous mental and energy manipulative abilities. As civilizations began arising on other worlds, the High Tribunal of the Watchers debated whether or not to share their knowledge and technology with less advanced civilizations. The Watcher known as Uatu persuaded the Tribunal to share their knowledge, and a delegation of four Watchers travelled to the planet Prosilicus. The Watchers offered the Prosilicans the knowledge of atomic energy, which would advance their level of technology considerably. The Watchers tutored the Prosilicans in the uses of atomic energy for several months, then departed.

The Prosilicans used their new knowledge to develop nuclear weapons, and war and conflict broke out across their planet. They next engaged in war with an alien race, who proved to be more technologically advanced than them. The aliens all but destroyed the remaining Prosilicans.

Returning to evaluate the progress of their experiment, the Watchers were horrified to discover what the Prosilicans had done with their knowledge. During the next meeting of the High Tribunal, the Watchers decided that they would never again interfere in the affairs of another race. The Watchers instead developed a policy of non-interference and passive observation of alien cultures.

Soon after the meeting of the High Tribunal, the Watchers abandoned their home planet and relocated throughout the universe, each Watcher choosing a different sector of space to monitor and observe.

As other civilized alien races began nearing extinction, the last survivors who had driven themselves in pursuit of a particular goal discovered that they had become immortal. These immortals eventually became known as the Elders of the Universe. Their immortality allowed them to survive not only the deaths of their races, but eventually also the end of their galaxies. In pursuit of their particular goals, the Elders eventually relocated themselves throughout the universe.

Galen’s spaceship was observed by the Watcher Ecce. Ecce studied the ship as it travelled through space and learned that the being within had vast growing power. Knowing that Galen would one day have to consume entire planets to sustain itself, the Watcher contemplated killing the creature within. In the end Ecce decided to abide by his race’s policy of non-interference and let the ship travel on it’s way, although he continued to observe it.

Developing within the spaceship, Galen renamed himself Galactus and began learning how to master his vast power. Galactus transformed his spaceship into a huge incubation chamber to help further aid in his development. Centuries later, the incubation chamber drifted into the orbit of the planet Archeopia. Years later Galactus emerged from the chamber and destroyed the planet, absorbing it’s energies into himself. Only a handful of Archeopians managed to flee the destruction of their planet.

Over the next few millennia, Galactus constructed an enormous starbase, Taa II, which engulfed the entire Archeopian solar system. With the construction of his starbase complete, Galactus began wandering the universe in search of planets to quench his hunger.

Realizing he was a unique being in the universe, Galactus decided to use his powers to create a companion. Galactus created Tyrant in his own image, a humanoid of immense size and power. However whereas Galactus was content with his life merely to survive, Tyrant wished to become a conqueror and to rule the universe. He seized power on several worlds, ruling with an iron fist. Tyrant betrayed Galactus, and the two fought an incredible battle which destroyed entire galaxies. Eventually Galactus overpowered Tyrant, and used his cosmic powers to drain Tyrant’s powers from him. Tyrant was shrunken in size. Greatly weakened and humiliated, fearing for his life, Tyrant fled from Galactus and put himself in voluntary exile. [Cosmic Powers #6]

The star Sol began to condense out of nebular gases, eventually forming a solar system. [Scientific theory.]

Eon, foreseeing a threat to the conditions of life in the universe, contacted Glakandar, an alien from the planet Stygia. Eon appointed him as his champion and gave Glakandar the quantum-bands, weapons Eon created that allows the wearer to manipulate energy at will. Starbender, as Glakandar came to be known, became Eon’s first Protector of the Universe. Over the millennia as new threats arose in the cosmos Eon would appoint a new champion, giving him or her the quantum bands to aid in his duties. [Quasar #27]

3,900,000,000 Years Ago

The crust around the third planet from the star Sol solidified and hardened. This planet would eventually be known as Earth. [Scientific theory.]

2,000,000,000 Years Ago

The Elder God Demiurge achieved consciousness after being formed and coalesced from the Earth’s biosphere. As conditions on Earth became supportive towards life, and sensing the need for diversity, Demiurge split up into countless fragments, each of which formed into new organisms, such as Belathauzer, Chthon, Gaea, Set, Y’Garon, and others. These creatures roamed the land masses, and may have had something to do with the shaping of Earth’s continents. [Scientific theory.]

The first single-celled organisms were formed on Earth. [Scientific theory.]

Chthon began devoting himself to the study and manipulation of mystical energies, becoming Earth’s first master of black magic. [Silver Surfer Annual #2]

Gaea assigned herself as protector of the emerging life in Earth’s seas.

Set spawned a number of offspring, among them Sligguth and Damballah.

Set, realizing he could increase his own power by consuming the energy of his fellows, became the first being on Earth to commit murder. By consuming the life energies of a fellow Elder God, Set began down the path to degeneracy. Other Elder Gods quickly began following Set’s example, killing their fellow Elder Gods to gain their energies. Many of them began becoming corrupt and evil and began warring and feeding off each other.

After millions of years of existence, all the Elder Gods except for Gaea had degenerated. Gaea began fearing that the Elder Gods’ wars and petty battles with each other would destroy the evolving life on the planet. Gaea mated with a reincarnation of Demiurge and gave birth to Atum, who became dedicated to eradicating the Elder Gods’ evil.

Forseeing the threat Atum was to his existence, Chthon inscribed all the mystical knowledge he had learned through the millennia on a parchment to be his touchstone with the Earth dimension. Atum indeed became a threat to the Elder Gods, as he began killing them for their evil and degradation, absorbing their energies into himself. The energies he absorbed caused him to undergo a metamorphosis into the form of Demogorge the God-Eater, and many of the Elder Gods fell to him. Chthon, sensing the end was near, cast a spell which allowed him to escape into another dimension before Demogorge could slay him. Before he left, Chthon left the parchment containing his mystical knowledge behind.

Set, witnessing what Chthon had done, replicated Chthon’s spell and he and his offspring escaped. Gaea was the only original Elder God permitted to exist on the planet, and she infused her godly essence into the Earth and into all living things. Demogorge released the energies he had absorbed, reverting back to his form of Atum. He then set up residence within Earth’s sun.

Over millennia, the energies that Demogorge had released when he reverted back into Atum eventually formed into a number of different beings, such as Nun, Ouranus, and Buri, whose descendants would eventually found a number of different pantheons of new gods. [Whether or not the original founders of Earth’s pantheons were created by Atum is speculative, as is whether or not this is the incident by which they were originally created, but Atum has been referred to as the creator of Earth’s pantheons. Legend also states that Gaea was the mother of Ouranus.]

The Beyonders, a race of almost omnipotent other-dimensional beings, contracted the alien race the Nuwali to build wildlife preserves on a number of different planets. The preserves were to be set up in order that the Beyonders could observe the process of evolution under relatively controlled conditions. One of the planets chosen as a site for a preserve was Earth. The Nuwali arrived on Earth during the Triassic period and began construction of the preserve on the continent of Antarctica. They choose a spot with active volcanos and set up advanced technological devices deep within caverns under the valley to help maintain a tropical climate. When the preserve was completed, the Nuwali began stocking it with all manner of Earthly animal life. Over the next several millennia, the Nuwali would return to restock the preserve. In this way, many species which fell to extinction outside the preserve managed to survive within it.

The Lumina and the Myandi were two alien races waging war with each other. The Myandi set up an outpost on Earth during it’s Jurassic Era and placed themselves in suspended animation. The Lumina pursued the Myandi to Earth, and set up their own outpost.

65,000,000 Years Ago

To fuel his own powers the Elder God Set, from his pocket dimension, began drawing psychic energy from the dinosaurs, the dominant life forms of Earth. Eventually Set’s continued feeding on the dinosaurs helped bring about significant drops in their population. Gaea, the embodiment of all living things on Earth, knew the dinosaurs were an evolutionary dead end and allowed Set to continue his feeding knowing that he was quickly depleting his main supply of energy. Set, realizing that Gaea was allowing the extinction of the dinosaurs, became infuriated and commanded the dinosaurs to seek out and kill mammalian life, which Gaea choose over the dinosaurs.

Gaea sensed Set’s command over the dinosaurs and summoned the Elder God before her. Set appeared on Earth in the shape of a giant serpent, the first time he choose this form, and attacked Gaea, but she summoned her son Atum to protect her. Atum attacked Set and destroyed his head. However Set was not killed, and two heads grew back instead of one. Set and Atum, in his form of Demogorge, then began a battle which lasted for years. Many disasters befell Earth in this time, some caused by the battle, which quickly brought about the extinction of the dinosaurs. However the mammals were sheltered from the devastation by Gaea. Eventually Set, drained of power, was forced to withdraw from the Earth dimension. By this time Set had grown seven heads to replace the ones which Atum had destroyed. The battle had drained Set of so much energy that he could no longer journey to the Earth dimension without aid. Demogorge reverted back to Atum and returned to his dwelling place in the sun.

Millions of years Ago

The Celestials, enormous humanoid aliens who possess vast cosmic power, visited the world of the Skrulls. There they performed genetic tests upon the aliens, resulting in three separate branches of Skrullkind. After completing their experiments the Celestials left. One of the branches, the Skrull Deviants, were given the ability to physically alter their appearances at will.

Over time, the Deviant Skrulls waged war and genocide on the mainstream and other Skrull branches, effectively driving them to extinction.

The Skrulls eventually achieved space-faring capacity and began the establishment of an empire throughout the Andromeda Galaxy.

Skrull scientists spent thousands of years looking for a means to convert thought into reality. Finally, the scientists discovered a method whereby opening a portal to the dimension of the Beyonders and capturing the energy released in a cube of force they could create a device which could alter reality. By holding the Cosmic Cube in their hands, they could do anything they wanted. The Cube was confiscated by the Skrull emperor who used it’s powers to proclaim himself a god. After years in the possession of the power mad emperor, the Cosmic Cube began developing a consciousness and personality of it’s own patterned after that of it’s holder. The Cube, acting independently of the emperor, began altering reality to shape it’s wishes, destroying or drastically altering entire solar systems. The destruction it caused wiped out two-thirds of the Skrull empire, and caused the Skrulls to revert back to the level of barbarianism.

The Skrull Cosmic Cube eventually matured and evolved further, abandoning much of it’s ruthless and insane tendencies. Because it had been handled by a Skrull it based it’s humanoid appearance on that of the emperor who ha handled it for so long. The Cosmic Cube was still driven to the urge to transform worlds, but because of the lack of imagination of the Skrullian emperor that had handled it the Cube was also cursed with similar traits. The Shaper of Worlds, as the evolved Cosmic Cube now called itself, began wandering the universe, seeking out sentient beings who would aid and provide for him images by which to transform worlds.

The Skrulls eventually reestablished their civilization and again developed a galaxy wide empire.

The Skrull Empire, attempting to foster a galactic empire based on free trade, landed on the planet of Hala to educate the barbaric natives to the point where they could join. However Hala had two equally intelligent races, the Kree and the Cotati. The Skrulls proposed a test to determine the worthier race. Taking members of both races to a distant planetoid in another galaxy, Earth’s moon, the Skrulls created a planet-like atmosphere, the Blue Area, and bid the two races to use the resources they had to create something of worth. The Skrulls then left. The Kree constructed a magnificent city, while the Cotati created a beautiful garden. A year later the Skrulls returned to judge the two races and found the Cotati’s accomplishment the more worthy. Enraged, the Kree killed the Skrulls and the Cotati and seized the Skrulls’ starship. They used the ship to return to their native planet, then set about deciphering how the technology of the starship worked.

When the Kree abandoned the Blue Area of the Moon, the alien Watcher Uatu set up his home there.

Within a hundred years of acquiring inter-stellar technology from the Skrulls the Kree empire began to spread throughout the Greater Magellanic Cloud Galaxy. The Kree launched an attack upon the Skrull empire and the peaceful Skrulls were again forced to become war-like and antagonistic to defend themselves. The Kree-Skrull War would continue for hundreds of thousands of years.

The Cotati on Hala were almost driven to extinction as the Kree waged genocide upon them. However a small handful of Kree, the pacifist priests of Pama, hid and kept safe a group of Cotati. Eventually these Kree began worshipping the Cotati that they had kept sheltered. To further hide and keep them safe, the priests relocated the surviving Cotati throughout the universe.

1,000,000 B.C.

Human life began to emerge on Earth. From his other dimension the Elder God Set mystically influenced a small handful of Homo erectus and turned them into serpent-like humanoids. Set also gave these Serpent Men the ability to shape change into human form.

Set, foreseeing the arrival of the First Host of the Celestials on Earth, urged his Serpent Men to kill a nearby Homo erectus tribe so that they and not the humans would be the ones to be experimented upon and empowered by the Celestials. The Serpent Men entered the valley near where the Celestials would land and urged two humans to turn on their own tribe. However the humans rejected the Serpent Men, and drove them from the valley. [Uncanny X-Men Annual #13]

The First Host of Celestials arrived on Earth to explore the planet and to perform genetic experiments on human beings. They were greeted by Gaea, who escorted them to the valley where the tribe of Homo erectus lived. The Serpent Men approached the Celestials, but were driven away by the Celestial Arishem the Judge. Gathering up a handful of the humans, the Celestial Gammenon brought them back to the Celestials’ ship. The Celestial Ziran the Tester analyzed the humans, then began his experiments. He created the Deviants, a sub-species of man who were genetically unstable, so that the Celestials could determine mankind’s adaptability. Nezzar the Calculator then experimented and created the Eternals, who were evolutionary accelerated, given extended life spans, and given the ability to channel and manipulate limited quantities of cosmic energy. The Eternals were created to test mankind’s durability and longevity. To further test the versatility of human genes, the Celestial Oneg the Prober implanted a dormant DNA complex in other specimens of mainstream humanity which would one day result in benevolent mutations. Completing their experiments, the Celestials released their test subjects and left Earth. [Uncanny X-Men Annual #13, What If? Vol. 1 #23]

The Great Beasts, seven mystical beings of incredible power, arose on their native home-world in a pocket dimension. Their world, which was much like the Earth, was quickly conquered by the Beasts. They laid waste to the planet, killing billions of it’s inhabitants and imprisoning their souls in the Pit of Ultimate Sadness. In search of new conquests, the Great Beasts began observing other worlds outside their dimension.

An alien spaceship crash landed on an extra-dimensional world. The energy released by the destruction of the ship’s warp drives caused a permanent fluctuating rift to be opened between that dimension and Earth, with it’s Earth entrance appearing in the Himalaya Mountains in what is today Tibet. The aliens used the remains of their ship to build a city which they named K’un-L’un.

990,750 B.C.

The Kree Science Council, aware that their enemies the Skrulls had once created a Cosmic Cube, designed a super cybernetic/organic computer to help them in creating a Cube. When the computer became functional, it determined that a Cosmic Cube would be too dangerous to construct and refused the Science Council’s request to help them in creating one. This computer, called the Supreme Intelligence, was then used in an advisory capacity.

Over time the Supreme Intelligence achieved more and more political power and responsibility until finally it was elected as absolute ruler of the Kree. Eventually the Supreme Intelligence even came to be worshipped and an organized religion was built up around it.

78,000 B.C.

Kree scientist Bronek developed the first Sentry prototype, a humanoid robot designed to safeguard and patrol Kree outposts and weapons depots.

As the Kree-Skrull War raged on, the Kree set up a supply outpost in the Sol solar system on the planet Uranus, hoping to maintain a weapons base close to the natural space-warp that exists in the Sol solar system. They left Kree Sentry 213 behind as guard.

48,000 B.C.

The Plodex, an alien race which exhausted all natural supplies within their own solar system, developed an ingenious means to colonize other worlds. An automated ship would land on a hospitable world, sending out a hypnotic summons which would attract the most intelligent races of that planet. The ship would then combine Plodex DNA in unhatched eggs with that of the most intelligent species. The ship would then launch thousands of eggs all across the planet. One of these colony ships was launched towards Earth.

infant Thor was weaned, Odin brought him to Asgard to be
raised. From that time onward Odin's wife, the goddess
Frigga, acted as Thor's mother.

Not until recent years did Thor learn that Jord was his
mother. A severed eye of Odin once grew to great size,
achieved sentience, and informed Thor that another Thor had
existed before the current Thor's birth. This previous Thor
is said to have killed the Midgard Serpent, and to have been
killed himself by the dying monster's venom, at Ragnarok,
the destruction of a previous version of Asgard. Odin
himself was killed, but a new Odin appeared in the place of
several gods who survived Ragnarok, and it was this new Odin
who fathered the current version of Thor. Possibly these
previous versions of Odin and Thor were earlier physical
incarnations of the Odin and Thor of today. However, this
account of Thor's origin by the severed eye of Odin may very
well be entirely false. The eye's motives for constructing
such a story, if it is false, are unknown.

The young Thor was raised alongside Loki, who had been
adopted by Odin after Loki's father, the Frost Giant Laufey,
had been killed in battle. From childhood Loki was jealous
of Thor, and his hatred grew over the years to a wish to
destroy him. Thus began Loki's enmity for Thor, which
persists to this day. When Thor was eight, Odin sent him to
Nidalvelir, the land of the dwarves, to bid the dwarves
Brokk and Eitri to create three treasures for Asgard's
ruler. Among the three treasures that Brokk and Eitri
created was the uru hammer Mjolnir (although Loki sabotaged
the creation of the hammer so that its handle was made too
short).

Odin bestowed various enchantments upon the hammer,
including one that made it impossible for anyone to lift it
except someone who was truly worthy of wielding it. Odin
then declared that he was reserving the use of Mjolnir for
Thor, who would receive it on the day that great deeds of
selfless valor had proved him worthy of it. For years Thor
strove to become strong and worthy enough to wield the
hammer, and was responsible for many heroic deeds. Finally,
when Thor was sixteen, Odin presented him with the hammer,
declaring he was indeed worthy of it. Thor became Asqard's
greatest warrior.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Height: 6'6
Weight: 640 lbs.
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blonde

POWERS AND ABILITIES
Strength: Thor possesses Class 100 strength, enabling
him to lift (press) over 100 tons. Thor's strength is
doubled when he wears his enchanted belt of strength. Known
superhuman powers: Thor possesses the superhuman physical
attributes of an Asgardian, but as the son of Odin, lord of
the Asgardians, and Jord, elder goddess of the Earth, his
strength, endurance, and resistance to injury are greater
than those of the vast majority of his race. Like all
Asgardians, Thor is extremely long-lived (although not
immortal like the Olympians) superhumanly strong (the
average Asgardian male can lift about 30 tons over his head;
Thor can lift over 100 tons above his own), is immune to all
Earthly diseases, and is resistant to conventional injury.
(Asgardian flesh and bone is about three times as dense as
similar human tissue, contributing to the Asgardians'
superhuman strength and weight.) Thor's Asgardian metabolism
gives him far greater than human endurance at all physical
activities.

Weapons: Thor's principal weapon is the enchanted hammer
named Mjolnir, one of the most formidable weapons known to
man or god. Forged out of the mystical metal uru, whose
chief properties are durability and ability to maintain
enchantment, the hammer is two feet long and its handle is
wrapped in leather which terminates in a thong. Besides
being a nearly indestructible throwing weapon, the hammer
has been given six enchantments by Odin to augment its
physical qualities.

Enchantment #1: No living being can lift the hammer from the
ground unless he or she is worthy.

Enchantment #2: The hammer will return to the exact spot
from which it is thrown after striking its target.

Enchantment #3: The hammer enables the wielder to summon the
elements of storm (wind, rain, thunder, lightning, etc.)

Enchantment #4: The hammer can open interdimensional
portals, allowing its wielder to travel to other dimensions,
such as from Earth to Asgard.

Enchantment #5: Bestowed on the hammer by Odin in recent
times, it enabled Thor to transform into the mortal Don
Blake by stamping the hammer once upon the ground and
willing the change to occur. Since Thor has not had the
alterego of Don Blake for quite some time now it is unknown
if this power is still in effect or if it has been modified.

Enchantment #6: By throwing the hammer and grasping its
leather thong, Thor can magically propel himself through the
air in the semblance of flight. Just as the hammer can
magically change its course in order to return to his hand
when he throws it, so can it be influenced by its wielder to
change its course while it is in his grasp in flight.

Robin

Robin III (Tim Drake) was created by Marv Wolfman and Pat Broderick and first appeared in Batman #436 (1989).

Alter Ego: Tim Drake
Occupation: Adventurer, student
Base of Operations: Formerly Gotham City, now Keystone City
Marital Status: Single
Known Relatives: Jack Drake (Father), Janet Drake (Mother, Deceased)
Group Affiliation: Young Justice
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Black
Weight: 148 pounds

Historical Reference: Tim Drake was born into a prominent family. His father is the owner of “Drake Industries,” one of Gotham’s most important industries. It used to be a typical family. One day he went to the Haly Circus with his parents. It was the first time Tim was at a circus. Jack Drake asked a family of trapeze artists (John, Mary and… Dick Grayson) to pose for a photograph. Dick put Tim on his legs while the photo was taken.

During the show Tim didn’t pay attention to all the other performances: he was excited, waiting for Dick’s one. Finally, the Flying Graysons appeared. Tim was all the time seeing all the acrobatics Dick was doing. Dick ended his performance with an incredible quadruple hop in the air. Afterwards, while Dick was going down by one rope, his parents continued the show in the trapeze. Suddenly the trapeze ropes broke, and Dick saw his parents falling to their deaths.

Tim saw them, too. Then Tim saw a dark figure landing near Dick: it was Batman, who investigated all that had happened.Jack and Janet Drake sent the photo taken before the show to Dick (who became Bruce Wayne’s ward) and never reminded Tim of it. But Tim had lots of nightmares at nights: in these nightmares Tim saw Dick doing his quadruple hop, and then, John and Mary Grayson falling down and down. When Tim was nine he saw on TV how Robin saved Batman by means of a perfect quadruple hop in the air, so he realized Robin was Dick Grayson!!! “

Dick is Bruce Wayne’s ward, so Bruce Wayne might be Batman!!!…” he thought too. Since then he collected all the news about Batman and Robin to prove his thesis. When Dick stopped using his Robin costume to become Nightwing, Tim realized there was no Robin. When Bruce Wayne adopted Jason Todd, there was a Robin again. Finally, when Jason Todd died, there was no Robin, so Tim was sure his thesis was true. Tim realized Batman had changed: Batman become more violent and cruel, and sent criminals to the hospital for no reason. Tim thought Batman needed a new Robin to control his actions, so he went to New York looking for Nightwing.

Dick refused to become Robin again, but he aided Tim to become the new Robin. Tim, Alfred Pennyworth (Bruce Wayne’s butler) and Nightwing helped Batman to return to the right way. Then Tim convinced Bruce Wayne that Robin was necessary, so finally Bruce agreed to start training Tim. While Bruce was training Tim, Jack and Janet Drake were kidnapped in a charter flight over Haiti by a voodoo magician named Lord Obeah. 10 million dollars were asked for them to Drake Industries. Batman tried to rescue Jack and Janet Drake, but both drank poisoned water that killed Janet and make Jack paralytic. Batman sent Lord Obeah to prison. Now Tim wears a new Robin costume (Batman decided to design a brand new costume for Tim), that has plenty of weapons and micro-instruments. This costume is capable of protecting Tim from bullets. Batman even designed a vehicle named Redbird, that has as much equipment as his own Batmobile has. Tim not only uses all this equipment but also uses all the detective methods Batman and Nightwing have taught him.

Skills: Tim Drake was a cunning detective prior to his even meeting Batman. He was able to deduce that Batman, the previous Robin, and Nightwing were Bruce Wayne, Jason Todd, and Dick Grayson. Years smarter then any normal kid his age. Tim was inspired to study hard by the original Robin, Dick Grayson, in hopes that maybe just one day he could be like him. Tim’s intelligence can probably only be surpassed by one thing, his athletic ability.

An aspiring athlete, Tim has trained under many different martial arts forms, under the tutelage of Batman, Lady Shiva and many other martial arts masters. An excellent gymnast as well, Tim is certainly more athletic, then any other child his age. Outgoing, independent, skilled, and intellegence are all qualities that describe Tim Drake. These are also qualities that make him surpass the previous two Robin’s and perhaps make him the best Robin ever.

Weapons: Robin’s primary weapon is his collapsable bo staff. He uses this weapon to extend his reach and leverage in combat. A more than able combatant, Robin tends to fight defensively until he has assessed his opponents. Robin wears a suit of superlight ballistic fibre proof against low to medium caliber firearms. It is also padded to offer increased protection in hand to hand combat. His cape is also bulletproof, fire retardant and water resistant. An infrared flashlight used in conjuction with his infrared lenses in his domino mask, a short-term rebreather, a powerful laser cutting torch, smoke and tear gas grenades, batarangs and razorwings for attack, a grapnel line for swinging and tying up foes and a glider cloak that can be used to glide short distances or remove momentum from a fall. He also carries a small forensic kit for detective work and a series of lockpicks and security skeleton cards for simple to advanced security locks.

Enemies: Killer Croc, Mister Freeze, Rhas A’Ghul,Joker, Riddler, Two-Face, The Penguin, Harlequin, Bane, The Scarecrow

Black Bolt

Black Bolt and the Inhumans were created by Jack Kirby and first appeared in Fantastic Four #45. Origin recounted in: Thor #148,149 and Avengers #95.

BLACK BOLT

Leader of the Inhumans

Real Name: Blackagar Boltagon
Other Aliases: Black Bolt
Occupation: Monarch of the Inhumans
Legal status: Citizen of Attilan
Identity: The existence of the lnhumans is not believed by the general public of Earth.
Place of birth: Island of Attilan, Atlantic Ocean
Marital status: Married
Known relatives: Medusa (wife), Agon (father, deceased), Rynda (mother, deceased), Maximus (brother), Gorgon, Karnak, Triton (cousins)
Group affiliation: Royal Family of the Inhumans
Base of operations: Attilan, Blue Area, Earth’s moon
Species: homo sapiens terrigenus
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 220 lbs
Hair: Black
Eyes: Blue

Historical References: Black Bolt was born to two of Attilan’s top geneticists, Agon, head of the ruling Council of Genetics, and Rynda, director of the Prenatal Care Center (see Attilan). Subjected to the mutagenic Terrigen Mist while still an embryo, Bolt was born with strange powers surpassing even the Inhumans’ norm (see Inhumans). As an infant, he demonstrated certain energy manipulative abilities which he could not yet control, particularly that of producing quasi-sonic energy of great destructive potential. To protect the community, he was placed inside a sound-proofed chamber and given an energy-harnessing suit There he was schooled in the art of controlling his powers until the age of nineteen, when he was permitted to enter society.A month after being awarded his freedom, Black Bolt discovered his younger brother Maximus in the process of making a treacherous pact with emissaries of the alien Kree (see Kree, Maximus). Attempting to stop the Kree ship before it escaped, Bolt used the forbidden power of his quasisonic voice to knock the ship out of the sky. When the ship crashed to Earth, it landed on the parliament building, killing several key members of the Council of Genetics, including his parents, Agon and Rynda. The reverberations of his brother’s shout affected Maximus’s sanity and suppressed his nascent mental powers. Despite his guilt and silent protests, Black Bolt was obligated to accept the mantle of leadership of the lnhumans at the age of twenty.

Overview: Exposed to the Terrigen Mists, a powerful meta-mutagen, while within the womb, Black Bolt has a wide array of powers, far greater than most Inhumans. Black Bolt has really two sets of powers. The “electron manipulation” and the sonic disruption powers. The electron gathering and manipulation powers allow him to increase any aspect of his physical nature, including his strength, speed and stamina and resistance. Black Bolt can harness this “electron” energy for flight and the controlled projection of energy. This makes him a most formidable opponent, possibly the most powerful Inhuman to ever live. If Black Bolt were to use his voice at a shout, he has the damage capacity of a 10 megaton nuclear warhead. This effect is not just a shockwave, but a wave of transformative energy, destroying everything that it touches. As a result, Black Bolt has learned to practice rigorous mental training that prevents him from uttering a sound, even in his sleep. This meditation has been honed with years of practice and he has rarely made a sound since.

Strength level: Black Bolt possesses superhuman strength, enabling him to lift (press) approximately 1 ton. He is stronger than the average Inhuman due to the particular way in which the mutagenic Terrigen Mist affected his genetic and physical structure. By augmenting his body with his electron power, Black Bolt becomes capable of lifting approximately 60 tons under optimal conditions.

Abilities: Like all Inhumans, Black Bolt is physically superior to normal human beings due to the generations of eugenics. Attributes in which Inhumans excel over humans include reaction time, stamina, strength, resistence to injury, and speed. Humans are superior to Inhumans, however, in immunity to disease.

Known superhuman powers: Black Bolt possesses various superhuman powers stemming from his ability to harness free-floating electrons. The speech center of Black Bolt’s brain contains an organic mechanism able to generate an as yet unknown type of particle which interacts with ambient electrons to create certain phenomena determined by mental control. The most devastating of the effects is Black Bolt’s quasi-sonic scream. Because his electron-harnessing ability is linked to the speech center of his brain, any attempt to use his vocal cords–from the merest whisper to a full scream–triggers an uncontrollable disturbance of the particle electron interaction field. This results in a shock wave equivalent, at maximum force, to that caused by the detonation of a nuclear weapon. A whisper has generated sufficient force to rock a battleship, while a scream can reduce a mountain to rubble. Unfortunately, Attilan has been destroyed at least once due to the power of Black Bolt’s voice.

The fork-shaped antenna that Black Bolt has worn upon his brow since childhood enables him to channel his power in more directed, less destructive ways. The antenna moniters his brain’s speech center activity and allows him to direct limited quantities of the unknown particle to create a number of controlled phenomena. He can channel this energy inwardly to enhance his own body’s speed and strength. Black Bolt is capable of channeling all available energy into one arm for one powerful punch called the Master Blow. The exertion taxes his body’s ability to employ the particle/electron energy to its limit and renders him extremely vulnerable following its use. It has been suggested that Black Bolt has continued in his mutation and his powers have grown even greater with time.

Black Bolt is also able to direct the unknown particle outwards in ways other than by means of his vocal cords. He can rapidly route particle/electron energy through his arms to create relatively small concussive blasts. He can form a field of highly-active electrons around himself with the wave of his hand, and said field is capable of deflecting projectiles up to the mass of an MX missle traveling at its maximum speed. He has most recently caught a round from a Soviet tank with his bare hands. He can create particle/electron interaction fields solid enough to be traversed upon, though this phenomenon is a particularly difficult and exhausting one. He can use these electron fields as extrasensory probes which are highly sensitive to other electromagnetic energy phenomena. He can even manipulate his electron field to jam certain electrical mechanisms. He can also affect things at the molecular level with this power since he can modify electrons either free standing or bound within a substance. Black Bolt’s has the ability to transform matter with this power. The amount of mass that he can transform has not been determined. This power has been seen mostly in its destructive aspect as the Master Blow, Black Bolt’s most explosive display of his power.

Flight Speed: Black Bolt can also harness the unknown particles his brain generates to interact with electrons to create anti-gravitons that enable him to defy gravity. By emitting a jet of rapidly moving particle/electron interaction by-products while enveloped by antigravitons, Black Bolt can fly up to 500 miles per hour for a period of 6 hours before his brain begins to tire appreciably from the effort. The anti-graviton field also serves to protect Black Bolt from the detrimental effects of rapid movement through the atmosphere.

Allies: The Inhuman Royal Family, Triton, Karnak, Gorgon, Medusa, Crystal, Reed Richards, The Fantastic Four.Enemies: Maximus the Mad, Shatterstar

Young Justice

Young Justice was created by Todd Dezago and Todd Nauck and first appeared as a team in YOUNG JUSTICE: THE SECRET. They were named in YJ#1

These young protoges of the Justice League are still in their early teens but this does not stop them from emulating their seniors in their attempts to deliver their own brand of justice.

The charter members included Superboy, cloned from the scientific genius of the Cadmus project to replace the then dead Superman, Impulse, the emotionally, mentally and reality challenged speedster from the 30th century, and Robin, boy genius, martial artist, and all-around athlete. Their all male club included their mentor and guardian, the Red Tornado and they made their headquarters in an old JLA hideout.

What was missing was a feminine touch, so they have unwillingly expanded to include Wonder Girl, the second young woman to bear that name. While she is still learning her powers, there is no doubting her courage. The Secret, not much is known about this young woman who remains in a full time gaseous state and seems not know as much about herself as we would like and Arrowette, master archer and decended from heroic stock, she attempts to prove herself worthy, especially to her parent, the first Arrowette. Together, with their trusty semi-sentient vehicle called the Super-Cycle, they battle against enemies, hopefully from their own age group. They are the future. They are Young Justice.

Oracle

Barbara Gordon was created by Bob Kane and first appeared as Batgirl (I) in Detectice Comics #359 (January, 1969). Oracleidentity created by John Ostrander and first appeared in Suicide Squad #23.
Name: Barbara “Babs” Gordon
Parents: Roger C. & Thelma A. Gordon (deceased); niece and (later) adopted daughter of James W. & Barbara Gordon (divorced); stepdaughter to Sarah Essen-Gordon.
Siblings: James, Jr. (cousin & adoptive brother)Birthplace: Ohio
Estimated Age: 21-23 years of age
Hair: Red, Eyes: Green, Height: 5’11” tall, Weight: 130 lbs
Base of Operations: Gotham City

Previous Occupations: Librarian, Congressperson, Lobbyist, Computer Expert

Past Affiliations: Worked with the Suicide Squad for some time early on in her career as Oracle

Current Affiliations: As Oracle (with the Black Canary), half of the crime-fighting team “Birds of Prey”; member of the latest JLA lineup; an integral part of the Batman’s research and support crew; and, as Barbara Gordon, temporarily led Gotham City police and emergency services during Cataclysm.Overview:
Working with the Justice League as their primary information broker and team co-ordinator, Oracle was sponsored by Batman as a first draft choice to bolster the teams intellectual muscle. Physically confined to a wheelchair, she is intellectually unrestricted by any barriers. The superheroes of the world come to her time and again to handle the tasks too big for their superpowers — for instance, keeping track of all the teams and efforts and disasters which took place during The Final Night. She is a presence throughout the world, watching, tracking, and getting involved, via her operatives and allies, where she believes her and their combined skills could help out. And she “sits” at the round table, taking her place amongst the Justice League as their resident information technologist.

History:
Barbara Gordon, once known as Gotham City’s Batgirl was shot and crippled by the Joker, her career cut short as she was paralyzed and restricted to a wheelchair. Vanishing from the vigilante scene and now known as Oracle, she was formerly an operative who was funded and recruited to work with the Suicide Squad as a team coordinator and information source. She has recently taken her information brokering duties freelance and full-time and is no longer in direct employment of the United States government or operative teams except as it pleases her to do so.

Skills, Talents and Powers

Superhuman Powers: Oracle has no superhuman abilities and has the strength (in her upper body, she is paralyzed from the waist down) of a woman who engages in intensive regular exercise.

Skills:
Oracle is an expert at research & analysis and maintains several advanced databases filled with information about the metahuman, high trained non-metahumans, exceptional people, criminal, supersecret cabals, hate organizations, government agencies, and aliens who populate the world at large. Her databases are second only to the facilities for the Krypton Protocols at STAR Labs (and are mirrored by our facilities as she updates them.) An excellent programmer in a half a dozen languages, hacker, phone phreaker, master of telecommunications and database administrator, a technical wizard capable of working almost anywhere, she employees her talents creating custom built databases that allow her to cross reference information as quickly as possible. Working with WayneTech as a technical consultant, she is kept in computers, and money to do whatever she needs to, as Oracle.

Talents:
A genius-level intellect with a near-eidetic memory and a master in her field, she has an excellent ability to correlate seemingly disparate data into a cohesive and logical whole. Her intuitive sense about information allows her to find connections that are not readily apparent to anyone else. Her multitasking abilities border on the superhuman and she handles herself well under pressure.

Training:
With an extensive background in gymnastics & dance, Barbara Gordon received many awards in ballet, classic dance and gymnastics early in her high school and college careers. She was an excellent overall athlete and received training to improve her abilities when she was still working as Batgirl in Gotham City. Her martial arts training included a Brown Belt in Judo and commando style fighting techniques taught to her by Batman. She was also highly adept at Escrima (Philippine stick fighting) probably also taught to her by Batman. She was trained in the use of most of the current Bat paraphernalia such as Batrangs, grappling hooks, swinging techniques, acrobatics, and night fighting.

Equipment and Facilities:
Oracle has access to the best computer technology that Earth’s technology has to offer. Working with WayneTech and Wayne Corporation, she is able to field some of the finest computing power on the planet. Her primary computer is a WayneTech Gray 2000 workstation with 1 GB of RAM and 1 Terabyte of internal storage that connects to her very own mainframe computer that is supercooled in the closet in her apartment. She also has a high speed T3 connection running into her office that connects her to the internet and to other database networks that house her information all over the world. Oracle also possesses the finest security technology that WayneTech can afford to provide her with.

Tracking multiple television, radio, teletype, and internet broadcasts, Oracle has her finger on the pulse of all kinds of news. An extremely competent programmer, she has made it possible for software bots to review online news and search it by keywords when she asks for it, removing the need for her to have to read everything, all the time.

She has multiple uplinks to satellites, microwave transmitters, mobile communications, descramblers, cellular decoders and using the Justice League relay satellites can connect to anywhere in the world in a matter of seconds, assuming there is a connection available to be had. She maintains live connections to several of her operatives such as the Black Canary, and to the Justice League. Between hacking, having friends in high places, and knowing people in every intelligence group in the world, Oracle has gathered some of the finest information about almost everything on the planet. Supported by the computing power given to her by WayneTech and the Justice League, Oracle is slowly but truly becoming the source of all knowledge.

Psychological Profile:
Barbara Gordon is a haunted individual who over-compensates for her disability by trying to know all there is to know and is entirely too hard on herself if she should fail. Fearing to accept support from anyone and wanting to appear as self reliant as possible, she leads a lonely life of denial of human comfort, something that she desperately needs.

Sentinel/Green Lantern: Alan Scott
Alan Scott is the first human to bear the name Green Lantern. Though not a member of the Galactic Peace Keeping force known as the Green Lantern Corps, the power of the green energy of a magical force or being called the Starheart was directed through a ring that was once possessed by Alan Scott in a fashion similar to the GLC. (Even their recharging oaths were more than passingly similar) After the destruction of his ring by Extant, the long-term proximity to the energy has left him able to direct the green flame and its attendant constructs by sheer willpower alone. Alan Scott has aged slower due to the energy of the Starheart and at one point when the ring was no longer needed, reduced his age artificially and appeared to be about 30 years old for a time. Due to the malign nature of the Starheart, Alan Scott gives up much of his power and returns to his normal age but retaining the name Sentinel. He has the ability to focus his will into energy constructs that can affect the environment. He can project energy blasts as fields of concussive force, flame, water or even ice. He can use the power of the Starheart to duplicate the powers of other beings for short times, this allows him to keep up with the Flash, or have the lifting strength of Hippolyta. He has the power to modify spells since the Starheart and its attendant energies are magical in nature. The power allows him to create flying platforms, erect barriers of force, flight, protective fields around himself or others, increase his strength and striking power by directing the construct into a weapon form. Alan tends to utilize archaic weaponry as his force modifier. He will occasionally use the ring for teleportation or other more unusual effects but these seem to be energy intensive or otherwise difficult or he would use them more often. More often than not, Green Lantern is the backbone of the JSA because his powers can be both offensive and defensive and have a wide range of applications. His only real weakness is an inability of the Starheart’s power to affect things made mostly from wood or wood products. Weapons made of wood can pass right through the Green Flame as if it was not there at all.

The Flash: Jay Garrick
Jay Garrick was a student when he was exposed to the fumes of an unknown substance called “hard water”. The actual compound in question is still under analysis and is believed to be only part of the reason that he possesses his powers. Jay Garrick, like most speedsters has a connection to an otherworldly energy called by speedsters “the Speed Force”.

While “the Speed Force” may sound like a ridiculous name, the powers of those who are connected with it are incredible. To date: there have been at least 8 beings who have a connection with the speed force that allows them to access the amazing powers of speedsters. The Speed Force allows speedsters the ability to defy gravity, momentum, and inertia and achieve speeds that approach that of the speed of light, in atmosphere. These beings who are channelling the Speed Force, lose their material nature and enter this otherworldly dimension long before they actually reach light speed, otherwise, they would destroy the Earth in short order by the distortion of the Earth’s atmosphere and environment.

Realize that a speedster approaching light speed can circle the Earth in .134 seconds (that means that a speedster could circle the earth 10 times in one second). This means that speedsters regularly ignore physics with relative impunity, because the bulk of their mass is not in the Earth dimension so they can change direction, vibrate through matter and defy gravity at ease. Jay Garrick is one of the most accomplished speedsters on Earth. Even though his mastery of the actual Speed Force is not as adept as Max Mercury, Zen Guru of Speed, his application of his speed powers is without peer, having the greatest amount of time spent using said powers.

Jay has also used his powers to become quite adept at a number of other disciplines including foreign languages, written and spoken, mathematics, and multiple scientific fields, including chemistry, physics and geography. When reading a whole book can take you only four seconds, you have the time to get quite good at a number of topics. Age has taken a toll upon Jay Garrick, though less than many of his compatriots. The Speed Force probably mitigates this due to relativistic interactions in the Speed Realm. He ages slower because of time spent moving faster, particularly near the speed of light. Jay finds it more difficult to reach the speed of light and has to settle for the sobriquet of the Second Fastest Man Alive.

Starman VII: Jack Knight
Jack Knight’s father, the original protector of Opal City and the first Starman created the Gravity Rod, possibly one of the most powerful man-made technologies on Earth. With the Gravity Rod, Ted Knight, as Starman, was possibly the second or third most powerful member of the JSA. The Gravity Rod allowed him to do a wide variety of things similar to the Omnipower of the Starheart wielded by Green Lantern/Sentinel. These powers include: quantum energy effects such as the negation of gravity for flight or the levitation of other matter (whose weight limits are as yet unknown). The Gravity Rod could channel cosmic and stellar energies in various forms such as concussive blasts, heat, or other radiation emission (as light or other electromagnetic phenomena) or absorption (preventing light from being seen). It could be used to construct powerful barriers of force, able to stop rounds from tanks and small missiles. The true power of the Gravity Rod was rarely seen but could be extrapolated from the feats that it did perform. Jack Knight is the reluctant possessor of the Starman legacy left when his brother died in the job. Jack is an antique dealer and prefers to spend his time working on finding antiques for his store but has grown more fond of his role as Starman and seems to be growing into it as time passes. Jack’s Cosmic Staff is a more powerful version of the Gravity Rod used by Ted Knight.

Black Canary: Dinah Laura Lance
The daughter of the original Black Canary, she was born with an extra set of vocal cords that allowed her the metahuman ability to scream and stun opponents. This power was later lost due to a throat injury. The Black Canary is also a world class detective, ranking perhaps third in the metahuman community after Batman and the Martian Manhunter. Even before the loss of her metahuman power, she was a highly skilled martial artist and outstanding gymnast. She is skilled in the use of all firearms, martial arts weaponry and metahuman tactics. She has a variety of weapons from her relationship with her other partner Oracle. (Oracle, the former Batgirl, Barbara Gordon, works as an information broker for the Batman group of non-metahuman’s including Azrael, Nightwing, Robin, Batman and the new Batgirl as well as the Justice League). She now duplicates her Canary Cry with sonic stun grenades and uses other custom designed equipment when on assignment. She currently wears a bulletproof, fireproof, Nomex-weave bodysuit (curiously enough without protective legwear, an extremely large and vulnerable area, perhaps someone will explain why later). Her lack of metahuman powers has not hindered her performance in her work but her injuries in the line of duty will surely take a toll in later years.

Wildcat: Ted Grant
“Watched by our organization for years, Ted Grant seems to grow better with age. Now a man in his 70’s he is still leaping from rooftop to rooftop, climbing walls, smashing down doors and pounding the living daylights out of the bad guys. This guy is a walking advertisement for exercise and clean living.”
–Cameron Chase

How Ted Grant has maintained his vitality is still a mystery to many. Part of that vitality has to do with the magical energies that were unleashed upon the JSA during the 1945 battle with Ian Karkull. Ted Grant became the Wildcat during his boxing days to clear his name of a murder charge when he was still a heavyweight boxing champion. Undefeated during his reign, he was stripped of his title when his opponent appeared to have died in the ring. Later clearing his name, he joined the JSA during their operative years. After World War II, Ted Grant retired and had not been seen often during that time. Of late, Wildcat has been seen again, and in the same form as his youth. Since he has at least 50 years of martial arts training, he is considered to be one of the best hand to hand combatants alive today. Grant is one of the people that trained Bruce Wayne in hand to hand techniques before he became the Batman.

The Star-Spangled Kid II: Courtney Whitmore
The second bearer of this name, The Star Spangled Kid found the Cosmic Converter belt owned by the original Star Spangled Kid a.k.a. Skyman in a box that was held by her current stepfather, Pat Dugan, the original Stripsey and the sidekick of the original Star Spangled Kid. Disliking her stepfather intensely, she put on the belt and a variation of the Star Spangled Kids costume for a costume party that proceeded to get out of hand. The Kid (Courtne Whitmore) has none of the traits that you desire in a team member. Unsocial, except when she wants to be, difficult to get along with (unless she wants something), and absolutely sure that she is always right. If she survives the experience, she may make for a great member of the JSA. The Cosmic Converter gives her a variety of powers that were similar to the Cosmic Rod, made by the same creator, Ted Knight, but were designed for a more hands on approach to crimefighting. Using the Cosmic Converter, she has increased strength and agility as well as an increased resistance to injury. The belt has previously offered the power of flight and the directed energy powers of all of Ted Knight’s cosmic devices. As the Kid grows more capable of using it, she will probably unleash more of its abilities.

Atom Smasher: Albert Julien Rothstein
Atom Smasher, formerly known as Nuklon, was a charter member of Infinity Inc. a group formed of second generation children of the JSA. Grandson of the supervillain Cyclotron, Atom Smasher inherited some of the powers due to his ancestor’s transformation into a battery of living atomic energy. Patterning himself after his godfather, The Golden Age Atom, Al Pratt, Nuklon, possessed superhuman strength and increased resistance to injury. He was also able to control his molecular density, reducing it to make himself intangible. After repeated exposures to thorium radiation, he has since lost his density reducing capabilities in exchange for the ability to grow in height and increasing his density. He is able to reach a height of 15 feet and grows in weight up to 700 pounds. No one has determined the source of the extra mass but extensive tests at STAR Labs indicates that his body’s density has stabilized. STAR Labs has also provided Atom Smasher with a uniform that expands and contracts with his size changes. This mimetic fabric seems relatively durable and is probably resistant to damage of a conventional nature. He is likely to be the heavy hitter and strongman of the JSA, since he is currently stronger than Hippolyta and Hourman. He has in the past shown the ability to lift approximately 15 tons. With his density increased he will probably able to move even more.

Hawkgirl II: Kendra Shiera Saunders
Little is known about the current Hawkgirl. She does not appear to have any time spent as a crimefighter, but has been trained as one by her grandfather. She is the granddaughter of Speed Saunders and the grandneice of the original Hawkgirl, Shiera Sanders Hall. Trained by Speed, she has excelled in hand to hand combat and the use of archaic weapons. She has recently acquired the Wings and the Belt of Nth metal and has begun training in their use.

Little is known about the Wings and Nth Metal found in the wings and belt but several assumptions have been made from observations of the wearers. It is safe to assume that their flight time is unlimited and do not cause the user fatigue but the user is limited to a certain ceiling of 10,000 feet before the air becomes too cold and thin to support life comfortably. Comfort will probably limit how long the wings can be used before fatigue sets in. No upper speed has ever been attributed to the Nth Metal and since propulsion has never been clearly defined we are estimating about 200 miles per hour is probably the top speed since without respiratory equipment, the user of said wings would have trouble breathing.

Hawkgirl’s role in the JSA seems unclear since she does not have any abilities that they do not already possess. Three of the members already fly, at least two are extraordinary martial artists, three possess variations on superstrength and speed and two possess multipurpose capabilities.

Hourman: no personal name
Hourman is an android from the year 85,271 A.D. whose software is patterned after the genetic mapping of the Miraclo-enhanced DNA of Rex Tyler, the original Hourman. The android, Hourman was chosen by Metron of the New Gods, to become the heir to the power of the worlogog, a transdimensional, transtemporal device that can control, restructure and manipulate time or cause a variety of temporal effects.

Desiring to find out more about his human ancestry, The android travels back in time and deserts his post as guardian of time. After a disasterous incident in the 20th century which leads to the creation of Solaris, the Tyrant Sun, the android Hourman, then possessing near infinite power and abilities due to his connection with the worlogog, decides to strip himself of all of his temporal powers except for his “Hour of Power”. This was his attempt to prevent accidental uses of his powers due to his inexperience at being human.

The android Hourman possesses the powers of a Miraclo-enhanced Rick Tyler, which included superhuman strength, easily enough to lift 10 tons, speed and resistance to injury. Hourman had the ability to run at speeds of 50 miles per hour for an hour without fatigue and he could perform standing leaps of thirty feet. While he was not bullet-proof, he was highly resistant to concussive injury and was more than apt hand to hand combatant. The new Hourman seems to be proof against small arms as well and has the ability to fly. Android Hourman also possesses a form of temporal prescience that lets him see into the future at times, but because the images are not always linear, he has trouble analyzing them. When using his Power Hour, he can utilize more of his temporal powers to move through time, evolve or devolve a thing or perform other feats of temporal wizardry.

Sand: Sanderson Hawkins
Sanderson Hawkins was the 1940’s sidekick of the original Sandman, Wesley Dodd, and worked under the codename of Sandy, the Golden Boy. Sandy was the classic kid sidekick of the era, daring, bold and adventurous. As sidekicks went, Sandy was an excellent student and had an excellent teacher. Unfortunately, during an experiment with the Sandman’s experimental Silicoid Gun, Sandy was converted into a silicon-based life form, monsterous in appearance, and after a rampage, was placed in suspended animation because no cure was currently available. Wesley Dodd spent all of his free time working on a cure. Sandy was not cured for 40 years.

After a cure was discovered, Sandy found that he had not aged a day in those 40 years and thus remained a young man. Being the heir to Wesley Dodd’s fortune and technology, (due to patents and inventions of Dodds), allowed Sandy to fund the new JSA. As the new leader of the JSA, Sand is an excellent hand to hand combatant and detective, learning from one of the best of his era, the Sandman. Sand has upgraded the weapons of the original Sandman and his trademark gas pistol and wirepoon launcher. Sand has also inherited Dodds prophetic and precognitive dreaming ability. Sand is not a carbon based life form any longer. What other benefits this may allow him has only to be speculated and whether this will have any other ramifications, only time will tell.

Orion, War Dog of New Genesis

Orion was created by Jack Kirby in 1971 and first appeared in New Gods #1.

Orion

Species: New God, Extradimensional being from Apokolips
Height: 6’3″, Weight: 285 lbs, Hair: red, Eyes: blue
Other Aliases:
Group: New Gods
Origin: Apokolips
First appearance: Mister Miracle #1
Known Relatives: Kalibak, half-brother, Steppenwolf, UncleOverview: Orion is the true son of Darkseid. Superhumanly powerful, he was traded with New Genesis, as a child, in a peace effort between New Genesis and Apokolips. Raised as the son of Highfather Izaya, he was taught to control his rage and anger and became the most powerful warrior either world has ever known. Learning how to control his dark nature consumed much of Orion’s youth, but as he grew, his friends among the New Gods and their struggle against the oppression of Darkseid helped him direct his anger. Orion counts among his friends Lightray, Metron, Jezebel, Scott Free, Barda and Forager.
History: Historical references unable to be supplied at this time.Special Powers/Abilities:
The beings of New Genesis call themselves Gods and live outside of normal time and space in a realm called the Fourth World. These New Gods have evolved due to their close proximity to the Source, a primeaval energy, believed to be one of the ultimate foundations of the Universal Expression of Energy, along with their superior technology, into beings of genetic stability and evolutionary perfection. The denizens of New Genesis are stronger, faster, and smarter than homo sapiens, despite their resemblance to the same. It is believed that there is a connection between the Fourth World and the Third World (our universe) but that connection has yet to be completely explored. Since there are physical similarities, perhaps the races of the Fourth World help populate the planets of the Third World at an earlier time in the history of the Universe.

Super Strength: Orion’s primary ability is his superhuman strength, invulnerability, durability and hardiness. Orion is the son of Darkseid and is the second most powerful person ever born on that world after Darkseid. His physical strength is difficult to gauge accurately, but he has fought Superman to a standstill several times in direct physical conflict and has successfuly beaten Darkseid at least once. He is possibly the most powerful humanoid on Earth today. No normal Earth-made barrier or substance can possibly stop Orion if he wishes to enter an area. Few barriers, even in the Fourth World are capable of stopping Orion. Battles that have had Orion at the scene are known to be catastrophically destructive and often have extreme loss of life.

Endurance/Stamina: Orion’s stamina is legendary. Only on Apokolips or New Genesis, are there any beings with the ability to compete with Orion in a conflict of any nature. Bolstered by his rage and his mother box, Orion is a virtually inexhaustible engine of destruction. This does not mean that Orion does not tire. In battles against foes of near equal might, such as Kalibak or Darkseid, Orion has been seen to fatigue, only after hours of continuous combat. The scale at which these beings operate is well above what we have come to expect from terrestrial metahumans.

Weaknesses:
Radion: Orion and all of the New Gods are vulnerable to a substance called Radion. It source is unknown and its effects are toxic only in sustained amounts or after explosive exposure. The average New God can be slain by an application of Radion from a Radion blaster or bomb. More advanced beings such as Orion, protected by their mother box, armor and sheer toughness, have been known to take two hits and survive. Radion, must be hard to come by, because if it was not, Darkseid would obviously equip more of his troops with it. Perhaps it requires the mysterious Element X to create it.

Psychological intolerant:Orion’s second weakness is a psychological one. He is unable to reconcile his destructive nature with the more gentle teachings of New Genesis. As such, personality traits such as patience or tolerance are in short supply with Orion. Highly intelligent, he simply has no real understanding of what it means to be weaker than someone else and confuses weakness with defenselessness. He will rarely use restraint unless someone is there to remind him to do so, and his initial solution to most problems is to destroy the offending organism, device, creature, parademon, etc. He has recently shown displeasure with being sent to Earth and has had to be physically restrained on more than one occassion.

Weapons and Tools:
The Astro-Harness: an alien artifact of unknown origin even amongst the New Gods. Worn around his waist, shoulder and slung over his feet, it is capable of several abilities and is used exclusively by Orion. The device makes Orion able to fly at speeds up to Mach 6 in atmosphere, or at speeds above 150,000 mph in space. It is unknown whether Orion actually needs the device to protect him from the ravages of interstellar space, but considering his natural durablity, it is unlikely.

Self Repairing: Like much of the technology of New Genesis, the Astro-Harness is capable of self-repair and will repair itself completely as long as any portion of the device exists. This is believed to be from the influence of the Mother Box, because she has a link to the Source and a perfect memory of what the Astro-Harness is, she can recreate it from the native materials available around her.

Astro-force projection: The most potent power of this device is its projection of Positive Astro Force in beams origininating from the hand portions of the harness for small blasts, and from the hands and the chest plate for blasts against inanimate objects, large starships or invulnerable super beings. This weapon is so powerful, it has been used from orbit to attack land dwelling targets or to attack other space craft.

Energy Manipulation: The Astro-harness can also acts as a barrier to attacks directed at Orion, protecting him from injury. It can also absorb stray energy from the environment in order to power itself, in the event that its access to the source has been cut off.

The Mother Box: The true nature of these living computers/beings is unknown. Called Mother Boxes by their users/partners, these beings/devices possess wonderous powers and abilities not understood even by their users. How they came to be involved with the beings of New Genesis is not known. Mother Boxes have sacrificed themselves for causes they have believed in and are greatly respected by the people of New Genesis, speaking of them as loving, living entitites in the shape of a small box worn much like a common day pager on Earth.

Mother Boxes have been seen to: Access the Energy of the Source for various effects, change the gravitational constant of an area, transfer energy from one place to another, control the mental state of a host, communicate telepathically with a host or other life form, manipulate the life-force of a host to sustain it past fatal injuries, open or close boom-tubes, take over and control non-sentient machines, evolve non-sentient machines, merge sentient beings into a single more powerful being, sustain a life form in a hostile environment such as space, and many others. Mother Boxes have an affinity for the Source and are believed to draw their power it.

Orion’s mother box expends much of its energy keeping Orion’s rage in check. When she is not doing that she is maintaining Orion’s link to the Source and directing the energies of his Astro Harness.

Allies: Lightray, Metron, Jezebel, Scott Free (Mister Miracle), Barda, Forager, Lightray, Takion (Highfather), Metron, Superman, Steel, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Zauriel, Aquaman, Flash

Enemies: Darkseid, Granny Goodness, Steppenwolf, Kalibak, Desaad, and anyone who is an enemy of the Justice League. A more detail list of enemies has yet to be collected.

Green Lantern

GREEN LANTERN (Kyle Rayner) was created by Ron Marz and Darryl Banks and first appeared in Green Lantern Vol. 3 #48. He first appeared as Green Lantern in Volume 3, Issue 50.

Species: Human, of Caucasian descent, Height: 5’11”, Weight: 156 lbs., Hair: Black, Eyes: HazelOccupation: Freelance Artist

Group Membership: Justice League of America

Overview: Kyle is a freelance artist, living in New York City. While living in Los Angeles, Kyle was given the last power ring of the Guardians of the Universe by Ganthet. Rayner used his ring successfully against Ohm, and changed the original Green Lantern costume. Kyle later fought Mongul and saved a future Los Angeles from destruction during a Zero Hour incident. His life changed when his girlfriend Alex Dewitt was murdered by Major Force, who was hired by a secret organization to take Kyle’s ring. Kyle was then caught up in the Zero Hour incident, where he, along with many other heroes, saved the universe from being rewritten by Hal Jordan, aka Parallax. Kyle was forced to destroy the planet Oa, the former home of the Guardians, to prevent Hal from getting any more power.

History: The man known as Kyle Rayner has been under survelliance since the beginning of his career as Green Lantern. He is the current owner of what is considered to be, in the right hands, the most powerful weapon in the known universe. Rayner, has been until recently, the only Green Lantern left of the previous Green Lantern Corps. Rayner never served in the old Corps, receiving his ring after the death of the previous Corp and its masters, the Oans.Known Superhuman Powers: Kyle Rayner possesses the normal strength and stamina of a human who engages in moderate regular exercise. He has no superhuman abilities outside of the use of the ring.

Weapons: Green Lantern’s ring, considered by some to be one of the most powerful weapons in the known universe, has the ability to affect and use fundamental forces of the known universe, including electromagnetic energies such as gravity, radiation, heat, light, and powerful blasts of concussive force. It is also theorized that the ring also has a basis in other dimensional energies commonly called magic by users of such energies. The ring can also create fields of force formed from an unknown energy that was bound by the users’ will. The limitations of such use are the skill, knowledge and imagination of the user. The ring worn by Kyle Rayner, possesses numerous powers and abilities. Some of those abilities include:

  • Force Construct Creation: The ring is capable of creating a field of force, that based on the will of the user, is capable of resisting energy discharges and physical energy transfers. This field is generally used to create constructs such as barriers or walls to block or support other structures or forces.
  • Damage Resistant Aura: This life sustaining aura protects the ring wearer from harm. In space, it generates a field of life sustaining atmosphere and protection from harmful radiation, even if the wearer is unconscious. In earlier versions of the rings, the wearer was believed to be able to resist any attack that was not immediately mortal. The only exception to that was attacks based on the color yellow. The newer version of the ring, of which there is only one, is not limited by the color yellow, but does not protect the wearer as efficiently as the earlier version did.
  • Force Projection: The ring can project beams of force powered by the will of the user. Kyle generally uses fanciful constructs in the shape of advanced technology. Their appearance does not indicate the power of the weapon. The weapons power is more an indication of the will of the user. Certain users (i.e. Hal Jordan) have been powerful enough to stagger even Superman.
  • Flight: By the manipulation of anti-gravitons and directed molecular movement, the ring allows the user to fly at incredible speeds. In atmosphere, Green Lantern has been known to fly as fast as Mach 10 in atmosphere by creating an aerodynamic envelope around his body. Towing others, usually within a bubble, his speed is limited to the twice the speed of sound or 1440 mph.
  • Interstellar Flight:In space, Green Lantern’s speed can be significantly greater and has been known to approach 80% of lightspeed in normal space. The ring has the ability to create wormholes and space warps that allow for greater distances to be travelled in less time. Oa, which was rumored to be at the center of the known universe, was said to be able to be reached by a Green Lantern in only a few days of space warp travel.
  • Limited Cellular Regeneration:This ring has a limited ability to heal physical injuries and this seems to be a feature held over from the previous incarnations of the ring. Green Lantern can use the ring to repair minor injuries in himself or others. Speculation has been rendered to wonder if Kyle actually had medical knowledge, that he would be able to cure a wider variety of dysfunctions, beyond normal physical injuries.
  • Electromagnetic Scanning: The ring has a wide range of detection abilities based on the imagination of the user. If Kyle can conceive of it, he can probably detect it. Magical effects like clairvoyance, seem to be beyond the scope of the ring. Most normal electromagnetic phenomena are within the range of the ring, including radio, television, infrared, ultraviolet, and high frequency band communications.
  • Galactic Encyclopedia: The earlier rings worn by the Corps functioned as references for their users. Having the vast knowledge of the Oans to draw upon, each ring functioned as a ready reference on most peoples, stellar events and conditions that may have been seen by other rings or other Green Lanterns. The rings also served as a repository of adventures had by the Green Lantern and these mission reports were stored in the Prime Battery on Oa for review and training.
  • Universal Translator: All versions of the ring allowed the user to communicate with anyone, no matter what language was spoken. The ring allowed for translation as long as the medium for communication was able to be duplicated by the ring, and that the wearer was aware that communication was being attempted. If no common frame of reference existed, it is possible that there could be little communication between the two parties.
  • Weaknesses: This version of the Green Lantern’s ring does not have any direct weaknesses unlike the first versions of the ring. Alan Scott’s version was unable to affect anything made primarily of wood. His ring also had to be recharged every 24 hours or it would lose its powers. The Green Lantern Corps rings were unable to affect anything colored yellow and also had to have a 24 hour recharge. Kyle Rayner’s ring has none of these limitations. It retains a charge until it runs out of power. This variability ensures that Kyle takes a great effort to keep it charged. The other real weakness of the ring is the wearer. If Kyle can be kept from focusing his will, through drug use, neural interference, vertigo or other form of mental incapacitation, then the ring can be rendered useless.
